Busy trip to Cairns this week with multiple projects on the go. Great to see the ground breaking HDPE “True Blue” settling in to its new home. Yesterday was spent in Inverloch where we completed sea trials and stability tests on Alumarine’s 10m HDPE multipurpose work boat. We’re 12 months into a two year build of a new 35m steel paddle steamer in Mildura. While the rest of us have been slacking off over Christmas. Dale at Alumarine has been hard at work completing this 10m HDPE work boat. Next week it will be transferred to the main Alumarine factory so that bow door, crane, windows and engines can be fitted. Featuring a Maxilift ML110 electro-hydraulic crane, cut away side bulwark, easy loading via a drop down bow door and never needing to be antifouled. 12m Z-bow catamaran. This is a funny one and shows the value of the relationships we spend a lot of time developing. When Alumarine were asked to build a new 12m catamaran based on the very successful “Pina Colada” they were worried they were too busy and wouldn’t be able to meet the delivery targets. Rather than risking letting the client down they turned to another CTMD client, @bmenq and asked if they could help. Nice to get out of the office yesterday and play boats. Even better to be able to do a direct comparison between these sisterships made out of very different materials. For whatever reason the Ali version is slightly faster (possibly windage with smaller life rafts and no windscreen) but the way the poly boat could knock off 2 months worth of growth in a couple of minutes of running despite the lack of antifoul was quite eye opening in a world looking to cut down on pollution. #hdpeboat #aliworkboats #australianworkboat #workboatsaustralia

Great day today doing stability and sea trials on the @impactboats 8m. Ever since the first one was launched back in 2020, this has been an office favourite design and this particular boat has been fitted with an @oxemarine 300HP diesel outboard giving us our first opportunity to capture trials data on a known hull for a genuine comparison. While top speed is down due to the boat having 150 HP less than the original twin Mercury powered weapon, the efficiency is next level, between 15 and 20% more efficient across the board. Delivery day for Alumarine’s latest creation. At 12.3 x 4.5m we believe it’s one of the biggest HDPE plate boats ever built. It definitely has the most advanced hull shape.
